XVI Pacific Rim Banknote Printers’ Conference was held in Banff, Alberta, Canada, 7-13, Sep., 2003. Lead by CEO of CBPMC Mr. Liu Shi’an, General Director of Currency and Gold/Silver Bureau Mr. Ye Yingnan, Vice President of CBPMC Mr. Wang Zhiqiang and Director of Technology Development Department of CBPMC Mr. Zhang Xing attended the Conference. 56 representatives took part in the conference, all together 15 delegations came from 14 countries and Hong Kong.
The main topics of the Conference are printing and issuing. Each of the 15 delegations gave their Situation Report, including anti-counterfeit strategy, new series of banknote, production situation, counterfeit currency statistics, banknote printing equipment, quality control and issuance. 39 thesis was presented to the conference, and 17 of them were readout during overall meetings, 11 of them were readout on issuance group meeting, other 11 were readout on banknote printing group meetings.
Chinese delegation presented 3 thesis, among which, Security Feature of Banknote and Their Evaluations was readout on overall meeting. Two seminars were hold during the conference: Imperil and Countermeasure of Digital Counterfeit, Automatic Test of New Banknote. European Central Bank gave a subject report on European Central Bank deal with the increasing counterfeit.
