The Security Printing Institute of People's Bank of China is a scientific
research organization under the People's Bank of China, specializing
in the research and development of applied technology for banknote
printing, banknote paper technology, new materials for banknote printing,
banknote printing machines, banknote inspecting devices, bank facilities,
anti-counterfeit technology and banknote printing related products.
It is also engaged in the authentication of the securities as well
as the collection and the study of the banknote printing related information.
The Security Printing Institute of People's Bank of China was established
in August, 1959. Under the principle of serving the printing task,
the SPI has successfully developed several anti-counterfeit technology,
designed and manufactured standard 4-color intaglio printing press,
Model J98 double-sided multi-color offset printing press, Model J99
double-sided multi-color offset printing press, the electrical control
system of Model M97 2-color numbering press and other large-scale
banknote printing machinery, among which some research projects have
filled up the blanks in the domestic banknote printing technology
and won the Scientific Progress Prize in the industry, the Financial
Scientific Progress Prize and the State Scientific Progress Prize
several times.
Meanwhile, the SPI is accelerating the transformation of the fruits
of science and technology. Some fruits have been properly applied
to RMB of the 5th series and the institute developed the corresponding
inspection devices too, which has made great contribution to ensuring
the 5th issue RMB pioneering anti-counterfeit technology worldwide.
